About 30 Kenyan soldiers have been rescued from El Adde, Somalia in a search, rescue and recovery operation that is ongoing.
Al Shabaab attacked an African Union base on Friday killing dozens of soldiers and capturing others who are reportedly being used as human shields.
The 30 soldiers were airlifted to Wilson Airport in Nairobi on Monday.
"They are not injured, they are just traumatised," Defence Cabinet Secretary Raychelle Omamo said at the airport.
Omamo said the first batch of bodies will be flown into the country in the evening.
She said on Sunday, when several injured soldiers arrived, that the Kenya Defence Forces set up counselling centres in Eldoret, Gilgil and at the Armed Forces Memorial Hospital in Nairobi.
Four injured Kenyan fighters were received at the airport while others were flown in via Moi Air Base following the attack, whose number of casualties is yet to be released.
Omamo said details will be sent to families first while Chief Defence Forces Samson Mwathethesaid updates will be released as they become available.
Al Shabaab claimed on Sunday it had captured Kenyan soldiers during the attack but did not say how many. The terror group also raised the number of slain soldiers from 63 to 100.
Kenya is said to have attacked al Shabaab bases following the Friday morning massacre.
