Uganda changes Somalia troop deployment

Uganda has withdrawn a contingent of UPDF soldiers serving under the African Union peacekeeping Mission in Somalia (AMISOM) and replaced them with another contingent of troops.
The Commander of the Land Forces, Lt. Gen Katumba Wamala Thursday received the withdrawing officers and men led by Brig. Paul Lokech.
The newly deployed contingent of 2,830 Ugandan soldiers commanded by Brig. Michael Ondoga, left for Mogadishu as part of the routine rotational exercise.
The deployed troops under “Uganda Battle Group Ten” (UGABAG 10) will take over from the “Uganda Battle Group Eight” (UGABAG VIII), which has been in Somalia for the last one year.
